Striker Robert Lewandowski has advised. That he will continue to play for FC Barcelona next season and aim to win silverware for the La Liga club.
Lewandowski was signed by Barca from Bayern Munich for around €43 million in 2022, with the forward’s current deal set to expire in June 2026. He was instrumental in winning the Spanish Super Cup as well as the league title last season.
The 35-year-old
The 35-year-old ended scored 23 goals in his debut season and has notched up 18 goals in Barcelona’s current trophy-less campaign.
Lewandowski’s future at the club was uncertain at the time. While manager Xavi initially announced his exit in January but went back on his decision in April.
Barcelona are facing financial difficulties due to a rising wage bill and a 1.6 billion euro renovation of the Camp Nou stadium.
“Of course, for me it’s very clear. I want to win many titles with Barcelona and I’m sure that next season we will be stronger and we will win titles,” Lewandowski told Mundo Deportivo on Wednesday. “
“I always want the best, not only for me, but for my teammates and I believe that this team will win the title next season because I see what we do every day.
“For me that is what matters because this is a club that I hold close to my heart and I want to give a lot for the team and the club.”
Xavi had stated earlier in May, “We value Robert’s presence in the team very much and we will decide on his future at the end of the season.” HD Live Sports
Barcelona are second in La Liga and trail newly-crowned champions Real Madrid by 12 points. They face Sevilla in their final match of the season on Sunday.
