Jurgen Klopp has been appointed as an honorary ambassador for the LFC Foundation, Liverpool’s official charity, two months after stepping down as the head coach.
Klopp, who led the Merseyside club for almost nine years, is now set to continue his association with Liverpool in a new role that aligns with his passion for community work.
Klopp joined Liverpool in 2015 following the sacking of Brendan Rodgers. The German soon became a club legend, guiding Liverpool to their first Premier League title since 1990. Under his leadership, the Reds also clinched the UEFA Champions League, Premier League, Carabao Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, FA Cup, League Cup, UEFA Super Cup, and the FA Community Shield.
In his final act as Liverpool manager, Klopp raised £40,000 for the LFC Foundation by signing several unique items, showcasing his dedication to the club’s charitable endeavors.
“The LFC Foundation does an incredible job in the community, both in the Liverpool City Region and beyond,” Klopp said. “I am really proud to continue my work with them and be named the first-ever LFC Foundation honorary ambassador. I look forward to seeing what we can do with that now that I have more time on my hands.”
Matt Parish, CEO of the LFC Foundation, expressed his gratitude towards Klopp for his ongoing support. “We’re delighted Jurgen is continuing his support of the Foundation as our first honorary ambassador,” Parish said. “Having his support has been priceless for us over the years and to have that continue is fantastic and highlights his commitment to the Foundation and the work that we continue to do across the Liverpool city region.”
Parish added, “Jurgen’s love and passion for the city have been clear throughout his time at the club and it can only benefit us having his support and his voice championing the work that we do moving forward.”
Klopp’s new role will allow him to leverage his influence and dedication to further the charitable initiatives of the LFC Foundation, continuing to impact the Liverpool community positively.
