Babar, Rizwan go unsold in 2024 The Hundred Draft. The draft saw as many as 32 men’s cricketers getting picked across eight teams
Former Pakistan captain Babar and wicketkeeper-batter Rizwan went unsold at The Hundred 2024 player draft.
The draft saw as many as 32 men’s cricketers getting picked across eight teams, including domestic and international players.
Babar Azmm and Rizwan along with Pakistan’s T20 captain Shaheen had registered for the draft at the last moment.
Meanwhile, Shaheen Shah has been picked again by Welse Fire for £100,000. He had represented the franchise last year too.
Retired all-rounder Imad also returned to Trent Rockets for the £100,000 and ace fast bowler Naseem was picked by Birmingham Phoenix for £125,000.
Other notable Pakistan stars – Shadab, Iftikhar, Hasan, and Amir were not picked by any of the franchises.
Roy, Warner, Tim David, and Shakib Al Hasan were not picked among the big international names.
West Indies players were in high demand at the draft. Northern Superchargers picked Nicholas Pooran as the first signing of the draft. Russell and Shimron will play for London Spirit, Pollard has joined Southern Brave and Powell was a top pick at Trent Rockets.
In the women’s draft, no Pakistan players were picked.
Australians were the players in most demand with the likes of Lanning, Mooney, Gardner, Cheatle, Jonassen, and Sophie Molineux being picked in the auction.
Smriti Mandhana and Richa Ghosh were the two selected Indians in the draft.
Remember, 64 Pakistan cricketers, 59 men and five women, registered for 2024 The Hundred Draft earlier this month.
Two Pakistan bowlers – Rauf (Welsh Fire) and Usama (Manchester Originals) were retained ahead of the draft.
It must be noted that the fourth edition of The Hundred is scheduled to kick off on July 23.
