Man Utd decide Ten Hag’s future regardless of FA Cup final result
Manchester United has made a decision on their head coach Erik Ten Hag’s future which will not be changed regardless of the FA Cup final’s result against Manchester City, reported The Guardian on Friday.
Man Utd will face Man City in the FA Cup final at England’s iconic Wembley Stadium on Saturday. And even the win over city rivals will not be enough to save the Dutchman’s future as the decision to part ways with Ten Hag has been made.
Remember
Remember, in 2016, Man Utd sacked manager Louis van Gaal despite winning the FA Cup by defeating Crystal Palace.
Man Utd finished eighth in the Premier League with 60 points and they are set to miss out on European football. Their only chance of playing a UEFA competition next season is by beating Man City. In the FA Cup final as the winner of the cup is awarded a place in UEFA Europa League.
Multiple options including former Chelsea boss Pochettino, Thomas Tuchel, and others have been linked to the Red Devils. Still, there has yet to be any news as to who will be the next manager.
Tuchel left Bayern Munich while Pochettino parted ways with Chelsea recently with an immediate effect. While the former looks the front-runner to be United’s new boss, the club has already held talks with the latter.
Meanwhile, as per a report from HD Live Sports. The current manager of Ipswich Town Kieran McKenna and Brentford’s manager Thomas Frank are also on the list of United’s board to replace Ten Hag.
The report noted: “Informal discussions have been held with representatives of all four of those potential candidates.”
The sources added: “McKenna, who has guided Ipswich back to the Premier League following back-to-back promotions after taking over in December 2021. Worked as an assistant to former United managers Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. And he would be excited by the opportunity to return to Old Trafford.”
